Office Hours

Three sets of sample problems will be distributed during the semester.  Two weeks will be given to work the solutions to each set of problems.  Problem sets turned in by the given due dates will be corrected and returned in a timely manner.  Working the problems is highly recommended.  Students with a homework grade of 50% or more will receive extra credit for the exam (General Information on the Feedback-System).  The homework schedule is as follows (PDF files will be made available after the dates the problem sets are distributed):

Date out / due Topic
26.10. / 09.11. Problem set 1:  Fick's law and diffusion.
09.11. / 23.11. Problem set 2:  Advection and turbulent diffusion
23.11. / 14.12. Problem set 3:  Dispersion and chemical transformation

Students studying under the new curriculum can choose one of three exam possibilities:

  1. Take the 120 min written exam im Fach "Umweltfluidmechanik Grundlagen" im Schwerpunkt "Umweltfluidmechanik".  Exam dates will be posted here after they are set.
  2. Organize an oral or written exam together with other courses as an "Ergänzungsfachprüfung".  Exam dates and format must be scheduled with the respective professors.
  3. Take a 30 min oral exam over just this course as a Zusatzfach.  The exam date must be scheduled with Dong-Guan Seol, Ph.D.

A course script will be distributed on a chapter-by-chapter basis to accompany each lecture.  The recommended books listed in the Related Resources section are also available for loan from Dong-Guan Seol, Ph.D.
